Born and raised in Montreal, David Birnbaum developed plays as founding Artistic Director of the Imperial Theatre Company before focusing primarily on directing his own films.  Notable cinematic works include: Darkly Machiever (Best Film - EuroUnderground Film Festival, Best Cinematography - Belgrade Association of Cinematographers), In with the Old World (Best Editing - Houston International Film Festival), and Found Objects (Best Film, Sopot Film Festival, Best Film, Imaginaria Film Festival, and Best Short Dramatic Cinematography – Canadian Society of Cinematographers). He currently lives in Chicago and Toronto.
